Musings on Design

Designing without Ego

I have found the only way to creat spaces that nurture an authentic life is to listen carefully to my clients without ego, then design with respect, flair, and plenty of ideas. I love creating the design elements that unfold from the soul of my clients.

Welcome

Welcome to my page where I get to express some of my personal philosophies on design.  Interior design is an exhilarating profession, full of the swoops, hair raising dives and rapid climbs.  There are days when I feel like I am roller skating while juggling fire, and my clients are waiting for the back-flips!  These are great days, but not for the faint of heart!

A quote by John Wheatman

John Wheatman articulates the soulful nature of what good designers set out to accomplish; creating spaces that “reflect and support the authentic life”. So much more than designing a beautiful room.

"Putting together a living space that reflects and supports the quest for the authentic life is an exhilarating creative challenge.

Home is shelter from the world: the hearth that warms you, the roof that keeps you out of the rain, the table where you eat with your loved ones, the bed on which you sleep. But home is also the springboard for your life's adventures and the safety net that gives you courage to soar into the world. At home you are most fully yourself; accepted for the least you are, yet reminded of the most you hope to be.”
